This drill press is meant for bits less than or equal to 1/4". Reasonably, anything larger taxes it's available power. It can also be used with small wire wheels, grind stones, etc to polish metal.

The real benefit of any drill press is to guarantee a perpendicular hole in an object. This unit can be used to drill pilot holes in wood or metal (1/8" - 1/4") that are guaranteed to be perpendicular to the surface and then use a more powerful hand drill to enlarge the hole following an already created path.

A small light is available to illuminate the work via a goose neck arrangement. The chuck key is associated with the unit via a magnetic attachment.
