If you want to drill through concrete, an SDS Rotary Hammer is the tool for the job. The SDS bits are far superior to any that you might put into a hammer drill. They will go through any thickness of concrete you are liable to encounter with relative ease, especially if you flush the hole with water periodically.

BTW - there are two for sale because one was stolen, I purchased a replacement and then I managed to get the original back.
